Your Pack Version

2.7.2

Your Proposal

2 New Export/Import Buses with the size of a Storage bus. 8 upgrade slots to expand capacity and accelerate the bus.

Should look similar to Extended Ae2s Expanded Export/Import busses

Recipes could look like this, Basically the same as the standard recipes for the Export/Import bus with Tungsten Steel Plate instead of Titanium and IV Piston's instead of LV ones.

Your Goal

Its fine setting all these filters inside Storage Buses for something like Ore Processing but if you want a buffer for the ores the best way is to put ores into a disk drive, pipe the drive into an IO port to force the ores into the filtered storage busses.
With Expanded Export/Import busses, it would make it a lot simpler to do!

I would also imagine that pumping cells into an IO port can be quite TPS hungry when it comes to thousands if not Hundreds of thousands of items.

Your Vision

I imagine that this feature would make setting up ore processing and other processes where you actually need to filter what items go where would help a lot. It would definitely help ore processing because there are a lot of ores and some of them, Crushed Ilmenite, need to be sent else where to get processed. The same goes for the IsaMill Grinder, they require crushed ores again but getting them from an ore processing subnet is difficult without what I have suggested.

Don't get me wrong this won't replace the ore dictionary card. That is extremely powerful when it comes to handling ores but Being able to actively pull up to 63 items inside one export bus would be great for AE2.

Final Checklist

  • I have searched this issue tracker and there is nothing similar already. Posting on a closed issue saying I like this feature please reconsider adding it will prompt us to investigate and reopen it once we confirm your report.
  • I believe there is nothing similar in the pack already, or the existing solution isn't good enough.
  • I understand this change request may not attract enough attention and thus not be implemented.
  • I understand this change request may be rejected due to other community members thinking it's inappropriate.
  • I believe this feature would make the pack better.

AE2 import / export buses are the worse I/O option in the game considering AE2. The only purpose they serve is to insert low amount of items (typically inserting radioactive materials in the radio hatch) or to extract items directly items from inventories if they don't have autopush so you can't use a ME interface. They are limited in bandwith and the more you want to filter your IO the less you can be fast. It's intended. In fact AE2 has way better options to do I/O:

  • stock keeping mode in interfaces (require manual and external extraction, but provides 9 slots and can use crafting card iirc)
  • storage buses and ME IO port (storage buses exposes inventories to the AE network, and IO port can import / export items at a very fast pace, so filtering the storage buses and toying with priorities can be very powerful)
  • interface against the interface of a another network with storage buses (this kind of architecture is used a lot in endgame)
  • fake patterns (you can use them to empty your network then once stuck in the crafting manager you can cancel, or put the fake pattern against some inventory so you dump everything at once).

At some point in the game, you don't even need physical item movement anymore (stocking input buses / hatches, crafting input buses / buffers, crafting input proxies).

As you can see, there are a lot of ways to achieve I/O in the GTNH AE2, and exploring the mod will be benefit for you because missing lots of the concepts i mentionned will prevent you from progressing efficiently. This is also to preserve that variety of options that i will close this ticket, because several options are availiable directly when you unlock AE2 (i'm currently doing a run to ensure AE2 progression path is meaningful). I don't want to fool players into using this hybrid between a storage bus and import/export bus when better and required AE2 network architecture types are required for progression.
