Chop Chop quest - text implies that you can sift planks, but you can't. "each of the byproducts can be sifted". Since the quest starts off by talking about logs, by inference, planks are a byproduct and can be sifted. So either you should be able to sift planks, or the quest text needs to be make clearer.
