Can't enter fake nether through glitched obsidian portal

Bug Description

When I enter an activated glitched obsidian portal, the game simply displays the visual distortion effect and nothing happens: it doesn't take me to fake nether. Various portal sizes, chunks, gamemodes are tried, and issue remains.

Did this behavior use to work in the previous version?

Don't have a previous version.

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

  1. build a glitched obsidian portal
  2. activate it with fire rune, enter
  3. nothing happens
