A really bad decision on the dev's end

Context
I just found about this modpack on Curse. I got really excited as it is the first Skyblock modpack I have seen in a while that actually adds proper content that isn't just slapping 999999999999 mods together, without doing literally any work, and calling it a modpack.
And then I started a world. What is the first thing I notice? Well, it is the fact that there is step-assist. Naturally I go to try and turn it off but I can't. I look this up and find that for some reason(of which I am not aware) the step-assist is locked in for good until you get to a certain age and can choose to turn it off.....
Now, obviously a lot of people use step assist which is why I am not calling the feature in general useless or garbage. On the other hand, it literally gives me motion sickness. The decision to leave it locked in, without giving the player any control over it, is, in my opinion, just ridiculous.
I hope people see where I am coming from and the devs actually realize how this affects a fair amount of people. I am not even including people who just find it annoying.
To finish things up, all I am gonna say is that I am immediately deleting the modpack due to it being impossible for me to properly play without physically becoming sick.

I agree, it would be really stupid for us to have forced players to play with a setting known to cause motion sickness in a not insignificant portion of the population.
Fortunately, we didn't do this. You can turn this off fairly easily
On the main menu, click Mods. Search for Cyclic. Go into the Player category. Set StepHeightDefault to false.
Once you've done this you will not have step assist in any new worlds you create.
You can also fairly easily cheat in an apple. Three commands should do it:
/gamestage add @p one
/give @p cyclicmagic:food_step
/gamestage remove @p one
Unfortunately it's not so simple to turn it off on the server as this is handled server side - get an admin to give you an apple.
Well thank you very much for responding, I will change the mod option you mentioned. I knew I could probably cheat in the apple I simply decided against it because I wasn't sure how it would affect the progression system. I don't know how it works exactly so I didn't want to take the risk.
