Hello! There's a couple features missing from JEI since 1.20 that are added by complementary mods:

The Configured mod adds a config page for JEI and several other mods in-game, which allows JEI's settings to be changed without requiring a game restart.

The More Overlays Updated mod adds the double-click highlighting functionality for JEI.
