Eclectic Sounds?!
This project of mine currently adds over 400+ new sounds to Minecraft, touching all possible sound categories (minus music) - Ambience, Blocks, Entities, Player Actions, Items... you name it!
Does not require any mod, but there is extended Mod Support, check below.
Very gameplay friendly, a lot would say gameplay improving :)
The main and only focus of the pack is enhancing the audial experience of Minecraft therefore it alters nothing more than sounds. To get a preview of the latest version click here
Short Background
Every sound that is used in the pack is influenced from other games, such as Dying Light, the Mario Bros series, Guild Wars, Bioshock, and many more. This resource pack started as a single modification to the keyboard typing sound from ExtraSounds. After that, I tried changing some other sounds and ended up liking it. Now I carefully choose and meticulously edit every single sound that makes it into the pack since I have fun doing it.
Mod Support!
That's right, this pack has mod support, that's how I started the project in the first place :p. It's up to you if you wish to use these mods, be aware that you will miss out a grand portion of the experience if you choose not to. As per the latest release it supports:
Fabric/Quilt:
- ExtraSounds - if you're on a version that doesn't have an update yet, use these unofficial yet completely working forks; (you must enable the keyboard typing sound within the ingame sound options)
- NotifMod
- Presence Footsteps
- Fabrication & Forgery
- Auditory (if you use Auditory please open the zip file before using the pack)
- Make Bubbles Pop - brings the bubble popping sound back (which will used by the sound pack)
- Chat Notify - epic sound when mentioned in chat; on the config set the sound event as "notifmod:chat.mention"
- Sound Physics Remastered or pretty much any other sound physics mod - although sound physics mods do not add new sounds to the game, they are fully compatible and recommended by me!
- Immersive Thunder
Forge (tested, not thoroughly):
- Presence Footsteps
- Fabrication & Forgery
- Pop! (same as Make Bubbles Pop)
- Sound Physics Remastered, or any other sound physics mod
Example: Sound Physics Remastered
Always use The Latest Pack Version
I update the pack everytime I discover a sound that could be replaced. Updates can get inconsistent because of that, but you bet I'll try my best to deliver only the top quality changes ;). As per suggestions to what add next - Github issues.
Additional Info
Some important stuff to read if encountering issues using the sound pack:
- There is an issue with versions of Effective above 1.2.2 that causes small water hops to sound like big splashes with my resource pack. Essentially, after 1.2.2 the mod completely removes a sound event from the game. To avoid this, I recommend using only the version 1.2.2 of Effective. I have already reported this issue to the developers. You can find the linked issue on GitHub here.
- For the time being, I suggest not using the Drip sounds fabric mod with my pack. You may find rain to sound metallic if you use them together. I've already let the developers know about this issue, and they're willing to work on it. You can find the linked issue on GitHub here.
- Unfortunately, resource packs are not like mods and do not offer the same level of control. There is only so much that resource packs can do, and it is not possible to fix everything using workarounds. I decided to allow mod support because of this. I've also discussed with a friend who is a mod developer about expanding the controllability of a resource pack through a mod.
- Server owners don't usually consider that players use sound packs when setting up their server's sound nodes for minigames and what not. This can cause issues when using my pack on servers, particularly on PvP servers. As the resource pack developer, I will most likely be unable to fix these kind of issues and I also can't focus on supporting specific servers.
- With every new release, the zip file will include a text file called "overview.txt". This file lists all the changes in the latest update, every sound that has been altered by the pack, and additional information about the pack.
