Thanks for reporting, this has been an issue ever since a recent EMF update. I'm not entirely sure how to solve it, since the models are made according to the EMF docs and it does work with OptiFine. You can disable the chests using Respackopts in the meantime.

Having the same issue. Also the icon is invisible in the hotbar and inventory for chests
