This project posits an overhaul of two of Minecraft's most underappreciated structures: The Desert and Jungle Temples. Neither of these has seen any update since they were introduced, and especially compared to newer structures, they feel neglected by comparison. I wanted to offer my fix to this, by adding new structures that utilize procedural generation, (similar to my modular arena project), to arrange catacombs, traps, etc; thus making these structures larger, more challenging, and more rewarding.

  • Each temple is procedurally generated- rooms are pre-designed, and then randomly selected by command block machinery. Temples feature a variety of traps and puzzles consistent with their existing themes- the Desert Temple has an abundance of explosives, while the Jungle Temple focuses more on tripwires and hidden dangers/redstone trickery.
  • Both temples feature spawners, (Creeper spawners for the Desert, and Cave-Spider spawners for the Jungle), both as a reward, and as an added challenge.
  • Both temples have unique (and improved) loot from their Vanilla counterparts, with harder to access chests containing better rewards.
  • Both temples make use of newer blocks (and mechanics) added in recent updates- including observers, glazed terracotta, dripstone, sculk, etc.
  • ...I do eventually have hopes of overhauling more structures in the form of a mod- right now, this is just a proof of concept.

I recommend loading this in the latest snapshot- a couple of rooms rely on Sculk mechanics, and the terrain generation around the temples necessitates the new place-feature command. However, they are still functional in the latest versions of the game.
