Just the same way that accountant tracks gold down to the session, day, week, month, etc. It wouldnt need the same level of detailed breakdown that gold can be such as where the currency comes from but being able to gauge how much of the other currency a person is earning and how fast they are doing so. Gives a better idea of how quickly ( or not so quickly) they are achieving their goal.

Just knowing for example if ive fallen behind my normal weekly rate of said currency by being able to instantly compare against last week's numbers.
