Feature Request: Favorite Categories

What flavo(u)r(s) of WoW are you using?

Retail

What problem are you experiencing that led to this feature request?

I often need to check the same categories repeatedly within the addon, and having to navigate to them every time becomes quite time-consuming. Being able to favorite categories would make it much faster to access the ones I use most often.

What solution would you like?

It would be great to have the ability to mark certain categories as favorites.
This would allow users to:

  • Access them quickly.
  • Easily track missing items or progress.
  • See what’s missing for specific classes and specs.
  • This small addition would make navigation and tracking much more efficient.

Any alternatives you can think of?

This is an interesting idea, but would definitely take some thinking on how to implement/store/open a particular favorite.
ATT Classic has some variation of this where any ATT window you open will just persist forever until you close it -- even between reloads. But I'm assuming you don't want to actually keep X different windows open forever in ATT.

However, possibly a help to this is that you can 'search' for a specific Thing by adding ? to the /att command.

So if you know there's a particular Item from somewhere you still need, you can use /att ? i:12345 to find it in ATT's Main list, where i is short for item and 12345 is the ItemID you are looking for. This works for Items, Quests, Battle Pets, Instances, NPCs, Headers, etc. all you need to know is what you are looking for and the ID of it.

So until a time when your idea is implemented, hopefully this can help :)

I was thinking more along the lines of adding a category like:

Category Favorites

And then being able to add whatever we want.

For now, I've created a note using PasteNG where I've kept the categories I'm following, for example:

Boss World
/att headerid:-61

Tormentors of Torment
/att headerid:64305

Nazjatar
/att map:1355

Anyway, there you have it, I've put the idea out there. I hope it gets done; otherwise, I'll continue with my text file x)

I was looking for a way to create a custom list of things to track when I saw this feature request.
My use case: my Horde main has some missing cooking recipes that can only be bought by an Alliance character. I'd like to have a way to list these missing recipes from my Horde character and have this list opened when I'm playing on an Alliance alt.
It would be some sort of "favorites" list, with the same functionalities as a regular list (Alt-clicking for the coordinates, etc).

There's an addon that I've just tried that was recently created ("Some of the things"), but when adding a recipe to it, it adds the actual meal that this recipe creates, and not the recipe item (so without the vendor coordinates, etc). I believe this kind of feature would be very helpful to have in All the things.

I tried the SOME OF THE THINGS - Wishlists and Bookmarks! addon, but it didn't meet my expectations. Too bad.

I think ATT really needs to create a specific feature to add all the things we want to our favorites.
