I am a resto druid. The relic I am comparing with is clearly better if I put a similar gem in it. Autogear doesn't seem to take that into account.

You can already do this with Pawn if you want to. The built-in weights purposely don't value gem sockets because I never put gems into my gear while leveling. I've thought about the time value of gemming, and the time spent getting tiny stat increases from gemming gear is outweighed by spending that same time getting an extra level by doing another dungeon or a few more quests.

Pawn is already the default scoring system, so I suggest using that if you want to value gems.

What do you think of this? I'm thinking of closing this with my answer, but I want to read any rationale against it before doing so.
