Ive had this happen a few times. although the spam comes from carbonite. the root cause seems to be WoW itself. It doesnt register the player logging off or something and still thinks they are online and where they were last seen. I've disabled all addons and restarted wow, and the person is still showing as being online and in the dungeon they were last in with me when i added them. i unfriended them and added them again and it solved the problem.
disabling carbonite stops the spam, but the player still shows as online, so as soon as i re-enable it, the spam starts again.
this occurred when i added someone as character friend through pals and they logged out after. But ive had it happen to people ive friended from the target icon too. After they log out, i start getting this spam.
Exiting game and relogging sometimes fixes it, but not always. On this occurrance, i exited game completly and even closed battle net at least 5 times. Even did that with all addons disabled, and wow friends list still showed them online when they weren't.
Only solution i found was to unfriend and add friend again
@IrcDirk sorry i've been busy at work all week and haven't been able to get on to test things. The player being stuck online in your list is a blizz bug, but are you able to keep carbonite from nonstop spamming the message when that does occur?
Again i haven't been on to test and see if its still occurring, but assuming it is, is that part of the error something you can fix?
The msg is from Blizz. Carbonite uses hidden channel to communicate with other players, so it sends data to players. I think u can disable this feature in OPTIONS carbonite wt., 6 wrz 2022, 22:50 użytkownik insectdude1258 @.> napisał:

do you know what setting to disable? i tried disabling social and all the options in privacy and it still spams me
Disabling Social should work... Try this command when that happens /run C_FriendList.ShowFriends() and let me know if it helps, then maybe i can do a fix for that ;)
i will certainly try that when it happens next. just gotta wait for one of the people i recently added to log out
i tried verifying wow game files and it said no bad files found. not sure how to fix the blizz bug side of it
weird that it doesnt happen to everyone, only a select few.
well i really appreciate your communication with this issue. i couldnt live without carbonite. im way too direction-ally challenged without it
Ok, it seems that if player is AFK it triggers that MSG... thats so weird... why we cant msg AFK people? Stupid Blizzard...
it only happens when they log off. if i add them as a friend, its not tracking what area they're in for one, its still remembering them where they were when i added them. then when they log off it starts spamming that message
I added several people yesterday by manually typing their name into the add friend. And it still did that. Idk if one of my other addons is conflicting and causes that hook to make it think they're still online or what. It's especially odd they still show online even with all addons disabled and wow restarted.
Thats on TBC?

And it happened with 4 different people I added yesterday too. So it's not limited to just 1 person
@insectdude1258 Doest it still occur with Pre-Patch and newest Carbonite Classic version? Cant reproduce...
Ok, this is still here... but its Blizz BUG!! I cant fix it... We have to wait till Blizz fix this.
when it occurs, logging out and back in does fix it for that player. or remove them from your friends and add them again
This issue still does happen. it happens when the player is in your party, then goes offline. only fix is restarting wow.
idk if you're still working on or looking into this. i know you said its a blizz bug. but just annotating in case.
This is still occurring as of latest patches/updates
@insectdude1258 Im trying to make a workaround for this problem... but its not easy.
@insectdude1258 Made commit for this workaround. Can u test it?
@IrcDirk sorry for late reply, ive not been on the last few days.
I updated and tested today. it does still occur, but not nearly as bad as before. it still shows the message, and the player is still shown as online in your friends list after they've logged out, but it only repeats the message one time each time you open your friends list. It will also say it one time in chat every random time passed, ive seen it go 10 seconds before saying it again, and ive seen it go 2 minutes+ before saying it again. Also any time anyone in your friend/guild logs in or out, it triggers it to say it again.
