Describe the bug
I'm not sure if this is limitation of wow, healing dummies, being out of combat, or details.
I wanted to test the HPS of certain spells and I can't get a HPS number that makes sense.
If I cast a spell that should result in a relatively stable HPS number I just get a endlessly increasing value.
For example, if I maintain Lifebloom on a dummy I would expect the HPS number to quickly stabilize to an average value, but it just keeps increasing.
Details starts a combat in a few ways. None of them are healing related. The hps value is based on the time of the combat, in the case of the screenshot above, their combat lasted 10s due to the fact that their hps is a tenth of their healing done. As of current there is no way to force start a combat for use in healing. Given that the only instances where healing is not accompanied by damage is when healing out of combat, which can include healing the dummy. The question becomes, in what instances is healing out of combat needing to start a new fight? And if you filter it to only the dummy, at what point does the healing end? When do you say "Yes, they're done healing, combat is over". There is no value given by the game to make that decision. Could we add a way to start/stop a combat using a button in the options, maybe, but it's a niche usecase.
There is generally a dps dummy nearby to the healing dummy, enter into combat with it by smacking it in melee. Keep meleeing while healing. It should keep you in combat.
What display are you viewing? HPS or Healing Done? And are you in combat for the entire duration of the heal?
Definitely HPS. As I mentioned before, this might be a healing dummy, out of combat situation. However, even when I try to stay in combat using a nearby non-healing dummy it also seems to be a problem. I wish there way some easy way to tell if in combat or not. Still, the numbers are there, there should be a way to see HPS even if out of combat.
Healing / HPS problems still there, as of 9.0.2: Details! is completely useless for evaluating healing setup on training dummy (at least on Lillyensthoom in Heart of the Forest / Ardenweald).
Numbers in Combat Log from WoW itself are OK, but numbers calculated and displayed by Details! are completely wrong:
