Several issues, saving, modifying and running.

Sometimes the macros I create or alter simply do not save the changes and will often revert to base form, not all the time but enough to make it a bit frustrating.
The main issue I am having in that it simply stops working, it gets hung up on a spell, different spells, different macros and will not proceed until the cool down has elapsed. This happens less often with macros I have imported but any changes I attempt to make and the problem crops up. The hang up either is intermittent , one macro will work great then suddenly hang up, or will not work at all. This has been happening since the 8.0 game patch but seems to be getting worse. I have disabled out of date add ons, although did notice GSE was in red, not sure if that matters.
GSE_2.3.01 , reinstalled, relogged, issues remain.

Over they years I have found that occasionally all or part of a macro will get hung up. They just need to be kick started, by manually click on the interval skill that it is hung up on. Example: From time to time Chimaera Shot, in my macros will not fire. All I need to do is click on Chimaera Shot just once. Then the Macro will work fine, and keep Chimaera Shot up, at its turn in the macro rotation
TimothyLuke, the hang up issue happens even a on a fresh macro, even just a simple /castsequence, /cast with nothing in the keypress, keyrelease , pre or post. SirEwing, I tried the benchtumping technique and it did not seem to help.
I tried deleting all my add ons, no love, I am currently doing a fresh install of wow, with new set of add ons, bartender, details and GSE only. New downloads, and assumedly up to date.
Update, tried fresh install of Wow and all add ons, same results. hangs up on cooldowns. This seems not to effect the sample macros, altering them more than a few lines causes the hang up.

Sir TimothyLuke, I am not putting anything in the keypress area other than the [mod:shift} and the like such as /petattack, and even then while trying to figure this out and work around the issue I am putting nothing in the keypress or key release area , Keep it simple. Once I found GSE, a week ago aprrox, I began to devour all the information I could find, from looking at examples of other macros, to reading the how to section of the site, to reading nearly everything you linked and others have posted on the website such as the behavior of castsequence, priority vs sequential, how to use pre and post, loops and such. I am not a programmer, just a general geek, but I have playing with the macros commands with EQ and later WOW and I was truly impressed at what you had made, still am, and wish I had found it years ago. I only wish it was working better for me because I have been enjoying tinkering with the macros and was hoping to share some.

I will try to get you examples, I deleted all my macros during the purge. Sorry for the delay, life has a way of happening.
After exhaustive testing [playing lowbies mainly], the saving and altering problem is still there, yeas I have the latest download via wowinterface, the breaking of the macros is not quite what I had thought. A macro I have been using for hours, or just logged on, will suddenly stop working. This could be a custom one, a sample, or one from the website, this can be sometimes fixed by simply toggling it off and on a few times, a logout, a complete exit or saying screw it and wandering off to do something non wow. I have also found that by altering the macro slightly, even by just making a new version it works, at least for a bit, assuming it remembers the alterations and saves it properly. I have gotten used to attempting to save three times, sometimes it works. I often to play with the combat log on so I can pay better attention to when it stops, some frantic button pushing at times when it does. I can post system specs if you like, will probably do a system wipe and reload of system soon just to make sure no gremlins hiding.
