Cant drag macro icon to actionbar

just installed addon with WoW 8.3. using any of the sample Rogue macros or a new test macro, cannot drag icon to action bar. after several attempts, WoW crashed to desktop.
Was the Icon a ? or a blue book? If it was a blue book you need to select the macro and press "Create Icon" to change it to a ?
I had to manually create a /macro entry because the GS UI would not do it. not even after /reloadui, or a log out and back in, or a full game restart. Once I manually created a entry I could drag my icon to action bar and it correctly reflects the first spell entry (Fists of Fury in this example). HOWEVER, clicking the button does nothing at all.
hovering over the action bar icon does show Fists of Fury. clicking it does nothing. using a non-GS macro for fists of fury works, as does a direct spell button from spells and abilities.

Using the button did not do anything. the icon remained the blue book. I had to manually create a /macro entry which consisted of #showtooltip and /click Monk_Fist.
Doing this made an icon that appropriately changed to a Fists of Fury icon and mouseover tooltip. However, this button does not react to any clicks or hotbutton key presses.
This test macro only consists of "/cast Fists of Fury" "/cast Whirling Dragon Punch". It is of sequential type. there is no keypress or release entry, no other fields have altered data in them.
This same problem has happened on my rogue, my paladin, and on my monk in this example.
I have even reduced the test macro to "/say Hello" and no other lines and clicking the button on the action bar does nothing.
ok. I deleted my manually created /macro entry. I used /gse and clicked the create macro button a few times in combination with highlighting and unselecting the row. It eventually gave the error that I need to delete some of my other non-gse macros to make room. so I did so and the macro now works.
thank you for the help. I now have a new question: why do I need to delete 3 macros worth of room from my monk's personal macro list in order to make the one /gse macro ? I happen to use a lot of macros on my characters so needing to delete 3 of mine before I can use a /gse macro is a bit of a bummer.
