Describe the Issue

Hekili seems to overcap maelstrom and asked me to spam stormstrike 5 times in a row (the snapshop is the 6th or 7th) while at 10 maelstrom. It seems to happen regularly outside of hot hands windows too where it spams SS. I think it tries to wait the last second before LOTFW buff's (spending 10 maelstroms) runs off to spend maelstrom.

Your sim does this too. What exactly are you expecting it to do here? There are no spenders in the action list higher than stormstrike during doomwinds/lotfw.

• My sim builds maelstrom and then spend it on either EB or LB, it does not mindlessly spam SS at 10+ maelstrom stacks. It does overcap sometimes, when at 10 stacks but sends after one ability usually (one SS). It very rarely sits a 10+ maelstrom stacks if no Feral / Pwave / Surging refresh is coming. I'll try to do a better snapshot but the snapshot I took while on Sprocket M (bit hard to do a proper snap here) shows it stills advising SS after 4 or 5 overcapped SS.

• Why would you spam SS and overcap during DW LOTWF when playing Totemic ?

Priority is building maelstrom and spending it with EB > LB if no Hot Hand, according to guides you should still spend at 10 maelstrom and not overcap like a dozen abilities.

I have not seen a single moment where it spammed as much SS as I had to spam on the boss (that and the occasional Pstorm fading out)

Reading my latest logs, I have times where I spend 6 whole seconds at 10+ maelstrom, and regularly 4+ seconds (outside of doom winds, 30+s in the fight) and Hekili advised me to keep spamming Stormstrike during HH instead of spending and using Lava Lash. Also regularly confirmed by WA.

Looks like the sims APL isn't even obeying itself. Some sort of internal workaround maybe.

Here you can see it choosing entry o while doom winds and frost witch are both up.

But lookin at the sims APL, it shouldn't have done that.

Sadly I'm nowhere near knowledgeable enough on the subject to take conclusions from that. Does that mean it's forcing itself to spend maelstrom ?

Talked to wordup in shaman discord. This behaviour seems fine.

The sim example I found is likely due to running out of stormstrike charges, so it skips down to ele blast.

If storm strike keeps resetting, you keep hitting it.

Basically what happened is you got really high RNG on stormstrike resets, and really low RNG on hot hands proc.
