Shadow Priest casting dots overtop of themselves over and over.

Before You Begin
- I confirm that I have downloaded the latest version of the addon.
- I am not playing on a private server.
- I checked for an existing, open ticket for this issue and was not able to find one.
- I edited the title of this issue (above) so that it describes the issue I am reporting.
- I am reporting an issue with the default priority included with the specialization (imported or edited priorities are not supported).

Describe the Issue
Shadow Priest spells
Vampiric Touch (20 Second dot) that also applies Shadow word pain (20 second dot)
Shadow Crash (AOE) cast vampiric touch and shadow word pain on all enemies within 8 yards
AOE rotation casts Vampiric Touch (which it should never do. it should only cast shadow crash if the talent is available)
Single target will cast vampiric touch 2x in a row and then 3 spells later. it's a 20 second dot. if you go to a training dummy and cast vampiric touch over and over and over it will have the same dps as if you cast it once and wait 19 seconds and cast it again. The same goes for casting Shadow Crash.
How to Reproduce
- log in as a shadow priest
- go to a test dummy
- make sure you have shadow crash talent selected (for mythics and some raids that have aoe)
- run through the single target rotation and then run through the aoe rotation

I took several screenshots while I was going through the rotation. I believe you can see them all with the link I sent.
this seems to be a HUGE waste of time casting vampiric touch or shadow crash over and over especially for a class with such low mobility. I'd rather take that time to cast another DD spell or move. but half the time I'm looking at Vampiric touch coming up as the next 2 spells I have to cast and I know that it's a waste because I still have 12 -15 seconds before I need to worry about it.

The snapshot you provided doesn't reflect the issue you're describing. It's doing a pre-combat shadowcrash. Later, I see 1 vamp touch which is presumably to trigger unfurling darkness.

Can you get one while the "wrong" vampiric touches are showing on your Hekili display?
That link was a singular snapshot. A "snapshot" captures the recommendations that are currently on your screen, and detailed logs of why they were (or weren't) chosen.
The specific one you pasted in looks like you weren't in combat. When you go to grab it, there may be multiple ones to choose from in the dropdown in-game

ok. I just went to the test dummies. I didn't mention that also, once in
a while It gets stuck casting Dark Ascension over and over again. in this
snapshot it had me cast it 8 times in a row and after casting it, it would
just have me cast it again

You haven't actually casted dark ascension. Are you sure you don't have some sort of weird trinket macro preventing it from casting? Your last 2 spells on this snapshot were both mindspike, and you don't have the DA buff up.

You could do that by setting minimum/maximum targets for each spell, but it would lower your DPS and I would not recommend it.
I would suggest simming yourself on raidbots in both single target and aoe and looking at what the sim does.
It seems like you may have better results untalenting "unfurling darkness" and spending that point somewhere else if you don't want to use the mechanic.
This is the talent that makes casting vampiric touch twice back to back a good thing, and what makes casting it in aoe a good thing (under 9 targets).
Did you read the talent link I posted a few comments ago? It's written right on the text of the talent (which you have allocated on your current talent build).

It makes your 2nd use of vampiric touch do a bunch of instant damage. So if you don't want to use it, you should move that talent point somewhere else.
At this point, the best place for this discussion would be the priest class discord where you can learn more about how the spec works. From what I can see the addon is suggesting the correct rotation.
