Maybe have a frame open next to the map when the map is opened.

Have search bar across the top of the frame, which dynamically populates the frame with location buttons as you type.

When you hover over a location button, a TomTom waypoint is temporarily added showing you where the location would be until you unhover. Gotta make sure we don't cause the waypoint to show on the crazy arrow.

Maybe a recent locations thing would be useful if you haven't typed into the search bar.
