Is this actually going to get updated or is it abandoned?

The more I look at this repo, the more it feels pretty abandoned. Is there actually going to be an update or should we move to another nameplate addon?

commented

If anyone wants to send a pull request in my repository i will accept it, but I won't be doing anything beyond basic maintenance right now until we hear more from Kesava.

Is yours Classic compatible or is it just for Retail?

I can confirm the latest version does work with wotlk classic. No clue what's going on with the official cursed page. It gets updated and broken. I'm just using this version from now on.

commented

The alpha should work on the pre-patch as of yesterday - I accidentally broke it on classic, though. This version should still work on classic (or, you know. use the fork).

Thanks.

I updated this morning and nothing showed. (toggled nameplates). Great add-on by the way.

I have used this fork https://github.com/rljohn/kuinameplates2
and have now updated to the latest alpha build. so far it all works.

nev and I are going to help maintain kui as well now, should be all good in the future.

The original author goes missing but rljohn made a working fork I'm using : https://github.com/rljohn/kuinameplates2

Thanks for the link Gerokusu! How do I install this "fork" as you call it? Sorry, I am new to this.

Just use the Code (green button) => Download ZIP button, and copy the four Kui_ folders to your WoW/Interface/AddOns folder :)

Thank you! Worked perfectly :)

Due to the all-rights reserved license, we cannot upload a fork to curseforge. For now, we can just rely on manually installing these fixes and hope that Kesava gets a chance to accept these pull requests soon.

I'm so grateful, u rock, it was my favorite nameplate UI.

Thank you very much for fixing my most necessary addon. Making this autistic person's wow-life a happier place again haha.

hey, this is surely not the right place or way to go about this, but since you're atleast maintaining the addon to some degree in your fork. Do you think it would be possible to get decimals in the text for health %?

Also, loving that its usable in pre-patch

will my settings be imported too?

commented

It will, as they are not saved in the Interface/AddOns folder, more in the WTF folder IIRC. I regularly update plugins by wiping them and still have my settings / profiles ported over.

Works great, but has anyone else got a massive CPU/GPU increase with this is enabled (I am talking 10-20% extra GPU usage over using Elvui nameplates.)

commented

I tested in crowded places such as Orgrimmar and Stormwind AHs, my CPU and GPU usage is strictly the same with or without the mod. Though FPS-wise the mod seems to "cost" around 4-5 FPS in such places with many nameplates. What are your options ? Are you using text-only display, full bar, or a mix ? Are the places you are crowded, peaceful, fighting ?

I can not get this to run this the pre-patch. I've removed it and readded it from the original source and the fork code linked to above and I get the same result, I'm told I'm missing a dependency. Of course I don't know what dependency, but there it is.

I didn't realize how much I relied on this little addon before now. :-)

Have you deleted the four Kui_Media, Kui_Nameplates, Kui_Nameplates_Core and Kui_Nameplates_Core_Config ? Then copy pasted the new ones from this fork only ? If you check them all four in the WoW add-on menu, it should be alright. Don't forget to check "load out of date addons".

Alright, I'll admit my error. I had done that before, and in the spirt of an IT "Did you reboot" request I just did it again. Turns out it was a user error. All seem to be good now.

Not sure, its just the code from this repository plus a few fixes for dragonflight. A few similar forks exist.

really cool where can we adres issues for this fixed version. I see critter nameplates everywhere active all the time or i'm missing option but I would like to turn that off.

Hmm, well, on Curse, the versions are 2.27.3a and 2.27.3a-classic. Seems like in some cases Classic does things a bit different API-wise. So that's why I asked.
