I'm curious, why was the button disabled when the MailFrame is shown? That's when I use it the most!

Yep, that's how I add items to the mail and trade windows. It has been that way for ages.

Addons like Postal use the alt modifier while at a mail frame to add the item(s) as attachments to a new mail, that's why.

In that case, can you further qualify the IF statement with an IsAddOnLoaded() check?
