I used to have the output routed to a chat channel but some time ago that broke. The Sub section is always grayed out now.

Yeah, that's Blizzard's fault. They made it so that you can't send anything to a chat channel without a direct user input triggering it.

What you could do is go into the settings for the click target and choose a channel for it to send a message to when you shift-click it.
