Issue: AI Voiceover Misinterpretation of Onomatopoeia and Sound Notations
Description
This issue report details two specific problems encountered with AI-generated voiceovers for NPC dialogues in the game, specifically related to the handling of onomatopoeia and sound notations using asterisks (**) and chevrons (<>). Combined these under the same issue for ease.
Problem 1: Onomatopoeia Enclosed in Asterisks
When NPC dialogues include onomatopoeia represented within asterisks, the AI voiceover incorrectly verbalizes the notation instead of the intended sound effect.
- Example: Dialogue containing cough is read aloud as "asterisk cough asterisk".
Problem 2: Sound Notations Enclosed in Chevrons
Dialogues that include sound notations within chevrons are skipped entirely by the AI voiceover, leading to missing dialogue parts.
- Example Quest with Issue: 6662 - My Brother Nipsy
- snort 878 - Tribes at War
- Reading 'hm' as the sounded out letters instead of hmm as in thinking 764 - The Venture Co
Steps to Reproduce
- Engage with NPC dialogues that include onomatopoeia within asterisks or sound notations within chevrons.
- Observe the AI voiceover response to these textual representations.
Expected Behavior
The AI-generated voiceover should ideally interpret onomatopoeia and sound notations accurately, either by simulating the intended sound effect or skipping the notation without verbalizing the surrounding characters.
Actual Behavior
- Onomatopoeia within asterisks is incorrectly verbalized as "asterisk ... asterisk".
- Sound notations within chevrons result in the AI voiceover skipping these parts of the dialogue.
Additional Information
I will update this issue with an asterisk example when I find one as I can't find the two quests I have encountered so far with this error
