Tracking if a nameplate is in combat or not is currently only possible with custom code. It's common to track an aura only on nameplates which are in combat.

An option in Status->Unit Characteristics to check whether a unit is in combat or not.

Maybe make nameplates usable as a unit in Status->Threat Situation ;D
