The fully-stock USS Jefferson SSTO can deliver a 3.0t payload (small satellite, probe, et cetera) into low-Kerbin orbit with enough fuel to easily make a successful landing back on the runway.
- Without a payload, max-power rotation occurs at 50.0m/s. With a payload, JATO rockets aid rotation at 60.0m/s.
- After rotation, promptly set a max-power 55 degrees nose high climb. Climbout will occur at ~40.0m/s.
- After the RAPIERs switch to ClosedCycle around 18,000ft, increase pitch to 90 degrees nose high.
- Once the apoapsis reaches 60,000ft (and climbing), lower pitch to 0 degrees. Burn so as to keep the apoapsis near 70,000.
- A low-Kerbin orbit should be reached with between 60 units and 300 units of Liquid Fuel, to be used for the return trip.
