I noticed one thing about armorstand projectile, (maybe with custom projectile too?) if you look straight up (and the spell has gravity) the gravity never takes affect and the spell/armorstandprojectile never comes back down (even tested with like long life etc).

Fixed in 6.9.21, gravity now affects projectile speed as well as direction.
