Minealytics - Analytics for everyone

Minealytics will gather data on just about every data type (within reason) and report it to the analytics storage engine while ill reside @ minealytics.com.

Here are some of the things that will be tracked:

  • Individual block break events (block type with metadata)
  • Individual block place events (block type with metadata)
  • Distance traveled (counted by block)
  • PvP kills (raw totals initially, will eventually track per-player)
  • PvE kills, tracked per-monster
  • PvE deaths, tracked per-monster
  • Server uptime (raw total)
  • Server starts
  • Logins
  • Lines of chat
  • more to be decided upon

The initial version of Minealytics will only track raw totals starting from the installation of the plugin. Within a few weeks, once performance is analyzed, we will begin tracking analytics down to the hour so we can begin doing analytics jobs to give people averages over hourly, weekly, monthly and yearly time ranges. This will allow us to generate graphs and other interesting bits of information.

Do I have to register on the website?

No, you do not have to register on the website. The plugin will generate a unique GUID for each server and report it for the first time. Registration on the website is optional (but will allow you to alter the IP address, should your server be moved). Each server's statistics will be tied to its IP address. An IP change will cause the plugin to fail to report data.

What is the release timeline?

I'm hoping to have the API done sometime early this week. I still do not, offhand, have a developer to work on the plugin itself. I am not an experienced java developer and will not expose server owners to shoddy code. I will be looking for an experienced developer to manage the plugin.
