At spawn I have a chest to let others give away items, since i updated to 1.8 players can't access it, I have chest-access set to allow, and pvp, mob-damage, creeper-explosion, enderman-grief, lightning, and enderpearl set to deny??? HELP!!!!

Spigot 1.8 itself doesn't break this. However, Spigot 1.8 requires you to update WG to a compatible build. This report suggests that you may have updated to the WG6 beta. Is this correct?

An alternative is that since this is spawn, it's inside your vanilla spawn protection area. If they're not getting a WG access denied message, then it's your spawn protection. It's spawn-protection=0 in server.properties.

Thanks setting vanilla spawn protection to 0 fixed the chest issue and use of items, sell signs work but buy signs don't. I'm thinking that is caused by Essentials 2x

I can confirm, this is an issue with Worldguard-1473 (maybe newer ones too), but worldguard-1477 fixes this issue.
