Currently we identify players by their MC user names, however, in an upcoming update to MineCraft user names will be changeable.

It would be great if you could create an according API to work with even if the code is not written yet.
It would allow to update dependent plugins easier / faster.

depending on the time frame we have, we'll probably just make shims for everything for the moment since there won't be time to do a rewrite like what WE is currently undergoing.

WorldGuard will be UNUSABLE when they add changeable usernames if this is not added!
(Even in 1.7.10!)

It will not be unusable because names still exist. However, it will be annoying.
It already was done a week ago and is pending release.
What do you think "In progress" means?

It's not pushed yet because I also decided to rewrite the region API and the MySQL code.

Note: Do not actually use that branch yet.
