"Wow, it only takes 4 planks to make a workbench? Just 8 cobblestones to make a furnace? But you need to go to Hell to get potions?"

NOT ANYMORE!

DESCRIPTION:

With this easy-to-use resource pack, I have meticulously worked to update over 100 of Minecraft's vanilla crafting recipes. I did not use a website, I hand-coded each recipe and tested to make sure they all worked. It makes the game a little less stale for veteran players, making it more of a challenge to start, and more fun to play in the long run.

WHAT DO I NEED:

Just Minecraft! No mod installers needed at all, it's simply a datapack.

INSTALLATION:

- Load a world at least once.

- Navigate to your 'saves' folder in '.minecraft' using %appdata% in Windows Run or finding the Mac Library folder.

- Open your world save folder, and then the "datapacks" folder (This can also be done in the World Select menu instead of the above step by clicking "Edit World")

- Simply drag the unzipped "WPsVanillaCraftingPlus" folder into that datapacks folder (this does not work if the file is still zipped).

- If the world is still running, use the "/reload" command, or save & close, then reload the world

Note, this does not work just by putting it in the ".minecraft/resourcepacks" folder; it has to be put into each individual world folder.

WHAT'S CHANGED:

- The game will be a little more difficult to start. A crafting table now requires flint, a stick, a log, and a plank. Furnaces require slabs, gravel and coal/charcoal. Tools are no longer easy to make either, but still not impossible. Wooden tools will require slabs, fence posts, and sticks to make. Stone tools will require smooth stone slabs. Iron tools require string, the sword requires a bone. Diamond tools require a blaze rod. However, I've worked out alternate patters that require the player to only needs two ingots/diamonds for pickaxes and axes, saving those precious materials.

- Gunpowder, blaze rods, nether wart, spawn eggs, chainmail, and more are all now craftable! They're not easy to get, but are still possible.

- Most of the "Workstation" blocks have had their crafting recipes made more interesting as well - such as the blacksmithing, cartography, and the loom.

- Many recipes using Iron Ingots now use Iron Nuggets, drastically reducing your iron usage for everyday things like buckets and shears, which will hopefully make the game seem like less of a grind-fest.

- There are now a few ways in which you can make string, which is a vital ingredient in higher-tier tools. As well, it's replaced leather in some recipes, making murder far less required to get what you need!

- Some are just quality of life changes, like putting a snow or clay block in any crafting square will give you 4 snowballs or clay balls, respectively.

- Gold is useless so I've given it "MaGiCaL pRoPeRtIeS" and you can craft some interesting items with it.

WHAT ARE THE RECIPES, EXACTLY:

This is still a work in progress, but for now you can go to My Website Guide for screenshots, and an alternate way to reach me with any question/issues/comments, as well as a Twitter and Reddit link.

There will also be a folder with all the associated screenshots in it located in the zip file.

There's also that little green book in recent versions of the game. That should do most of the work for you!

The idea was for things to make more sense. To build a crafting table you're going to need more wood than just 4 planks, and the block itself has tools on the side, so I figured a stick and a piece of flint wasn't too demanding, but made sense. Just keep in mind, if you're out adventuring, you'll need at least 2 logs and a piece of gravel to make a new one, so don't forget to pack a spare!

NEWER OR OLDER VERSIONS:

The recipes don't change often, it should be usable in the newer snapshots, and usable in older versions as well. If you find anything in particular that isn't working, leave a comment below and what version you're on and I'll see what I can do. I have more items and blocks that I plan on updating throughout, as well, when I get the time.

MOD SUPPORT:

If there's enough interest, I've also implemented heavy support for the Mystical World, First Aid, and Spartan Weaponry mods, and can add those things in there as well.

- For Spartan Weaponry, I completely reconfigured how every weapon is crated, some requiring the Blacksmith Table, even. I also re-textured a lot of the weapons to match the ore types in Mystical World.

- For Mystical World, I utilized the "shapeless damage recipe" to allow you to make gravel by placing cobblestone and a wooden/stone pickaxe in the crafting grid, and it uses 3/2 uses from that pick respectively. As well, I used the "Iron Smithing Hammer" from the Better End Forge mod to create shapeless armor recipes, changing the way they're crafted, and using multiple materials instead of taking like, 8 iron for a chestplate. (Now it's 4 iron, 1 wool, 1 leather, 1 string, and 2 uses from your smithing hammer)

- Better End Forge, I just updated the recipe for - and name of "Iron Smithing Hammer" to "Smithing Hammer" in the lang_us file and made the other hammers un-craftable.

- Farmer's Delight saw a few minor changes to how knives were made to accommodate the dagger and knives in the other mods I used.

- First Aid saw a few changes, cause all it added in addition to the brilliant new heath mechanic, were plaster, bandage, and morphine. But I've changed those item names, recipes, and sprites to green herb, mixed herb, and bandage (to replace morphine, but with the same effects).

This is just a side note about mod support, because these are all really well-made mods that I love and wanted to utilize them to make a fun game. I own NO rights to any of them and if this is requested, I will not do so without the express permission of those mod-writers.

USE IN YOUR MOD PACK:

Heck yeah! Go for it, just give me credit is all I ask. (And let me know, that would be super cool)
