Boring Story:
This recorder seems very... creepy. Every populated village either hasn't heard of it or will say nothing about it. I know they know something... I've come across tapes for this recorder in igloos and mineshafts but most surprising of all. Pillager outposts and Bastions. Whatever is going on with this recorder, they are trying to hide anything related. I've even found tapes in end cities. I've searched far and wide for anything related to the recorder and its whereabouts. I nearly gave up when I had decided to try looking in the water for it. There is no reason for it to be underwater. I would've thought the ender dragon had it, but she doesn't. There were no tapes underwater... but I found that the Elder Guardian had the recorder. It's in my possession now... At first, I didn't know why they were trying to hide it. It actually looks good for a recorder that's so old, it looks brand new. The only thing giving it away is the fact that the flap to put a cassette in is really hard to open. I had to use a chisel to open it. But I see why they are trying to hide it now, it keeps moving on its own. It seems to prefer a certain direction..
Actual Info About the Datapack:
This is a datapack and texture pack that adds a recorder, which only plays so it's more of a cassette player but it was designed after a recorder, and 13 tapes which you can put your own sound on! I have a video showing how to install custom sounds if you don't know how!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T--Fa4mLKy0
You can place the recorder on the ground!
To play they tapes you have to throw them onto the recorder!
The chisel can be crafted by putting an iron ingot and a stick on the floor together!
Elder Gaurdians always drop a recorder.
And the tapes can be found in chests:
- Pillager Outposts
- Bastions
- Abandoned Mineshafts
- End Cities
- Igloos
- Jungle Temples
- Nether Fortress
- Dungeons
- Libraries in the Stronghold
- Mansions
I added some useful function commands in case you are using this datapack in a creative way (To use these do /function):
- cassettes:give_all_tapes
- cassettes:give_chisel
- cassettes:give_recorder
- cassettes:all_decks_decoration
- cassettes:kill_all_cassettes_datapack_entities
And yes, there is other function commands, they are used to actually make things work in this datapack.
Oh! And I added the sounds into the subtitles, so if you have subtitles on it will show when a tape plays.
Reminder:
If you add your custom sounds while you have the texture pack on, you'll need to reload it with F3 and T!
If you add the datapack to an existing world, you'll need to run the /reload command!
Important:
You need to install the file named "cassettes" into your datapack folder, and "Cassettes Texture Pack" into your resource folder!
Author's Comments:
The short backstory of this is basically one day I decided, "You know what, let's learn how to make a datapack." Because I had this idea to add cassettes to Minecraft without overriding any of the discs, and I had some time off from work so I decided to start this project! I thought about the details a little too much just to keep it to myself, here it is! I plan to learn more about datapack making because it is really fun for me, so I will probably revisit this in the future! (I did revisit :D!) I know too much about Minecraft and commands, even before making this, to let it go to waste XD
