Is This an Enhancement to a Preexisting Feature?
- I confirm this request is an enhancement to a feature already in The Aether.
What Is Your Feature Request?
My request is that the Aether "Your Torch cannot be used in this environment." message and inability to place torches or use flint and steel and other similar mechanics be made configurable under the "Modpack" config header.
Why Should It Be in the Mod?
While I understand that the extinguishing mechanic is a part of the base mod experience, making it configurable would give modpack developers more control over the mod's mechanics.
The "Modpack" header of config changes already contains various changes that could also be considered to somewhat stray from the original mod's mechanics as well, and this feature if added would be configured to keep extinguishing off by default.
Having the feature off by default would ensure that in the majority of packs, the mod would work as intended for end users, while also allowing modpack devs to customise the extinguishing behaviour if it is their wish to do so.
Does This Feature Improve Compatibility With Another Mod?

Please Read and Confirm the Following
- I have confirmed this feature is either in the original Aether mod, or improves parity between The Aether and Minecraft or other mods.
- I have confirmed this suggestion is unique and has not been suggested already.
This feature is already configurable as this entire system is handled by recipes in the mod's datapack, e.g. https://github.com/The-Aether-Team/The-Aether/blob/1.21.1-develop/src/generated/resources/data/aether/recipe/fire_charge_item_ban.json
