i'm trying to play it on Fabric 1.14.3 using the v5 beta build posted on the curseforge website.

Hello,
0.5a is designed for Forge 1.14.3, not Fabric, and is an alpha build. I would not recommend using it in a survival world.

The mod had a proof-of-concept fabric port that was feature-incomplete. There was very little interest in it, so it was abandoned.
