@mrburger Why did you consider a 1.12 rewrite? the current version doesn't work well?

I am preparing an update to 1.12.2 currently, but work and the stark difference between 1.12 and 1.13+ code has slowed progress on backporting features. I have contemplated rewriting the 1.12 code base yet again, but for now that’s on the back burner.
