Better Senses is a supportive mod that lets you find ores more easily (against the crafting price of course, so it's not cheating*) and keep track of any mobs wandering under the ground your standing on. This can be done using either the Sensor blocks, or the portable Sensors. They will check for the specified object in a certain radius and notify you after finding even one. And yes... you can use it to search for diamonds!

*For the people who say this is a way of cheating... it's not, only if YOU think it is. A variation of expensive items is needed regarding the Sensors, and the Portable Sensors have a durability. The more useful the Sensor, the more expensive items it consumes. :)
