So I have a thought. Their are certain things in minecraft that require a player to be physically nearby in order for them to function. Specifically in vanilla minecraft this would be mob spawners.

Now this suggestion is NOT for chunk loading. (Already saw that feature request). This is for something similar but different.

It would be nice if we could upgrade a ritual, or a new ritual, to be a "player". Confused? Let me explain.

The ability for a MRS to tell the surrounding blocks that it is a player, and for them to act as if it were. This would mean that mob spanners would spawn mobs as if a player was at the same position. The real Player would need to figure out chunk loading issues themself.

The only thing I can think of that might be an issue is if implemented would be a server loading chunks around it as if it was a player, but if it does or not is not something for this request.

I can imagine infusing the MRS with a demon, who uses the blood of a player to masquerade as that player.

The only use I can think of for this would be hostile mob spawns. It could also be for chunkloading, but I don't think having what is basically an AFK player would be the best route to take in that case.

If all you really want is the ability to spawn mobs regardless of distance from a player, then it sounds to me like it would be a good augment (or overhaul) for the Veil of Evil ritual. I could also see this possibly becoming part of the Demon Will system directly.

I think it's worth mentioning that the obvious use for this would be to feed a Well of Suffering. An absolutely massive number of mods offer chunk loading and various forms of renewable LP without nearby players, so feeding a blood altar around the clock is already pretty easy in practically any modpack. I can also think of a few ways of doing it with only Vanilla in the Spawn Chunks, but those are much more tedious. The question is, does WayofTime want to give players an obvious way to fill Blood Altars around the clock innately in Blood Magic?

Very true, this would be mainly for that issue. And as a modification to the Veil of Evil would make much more sense.

Background: Some packs out their (Very light packs such as NERO) have no automated chunk loading. And on a server, most of them disable spawn chunk loading. the ability to to have your mob farm run, even with a slow trickle of mobs, would be nice.

Consider the request suitable modified to be either:

  • A modification to the Veil of Evil to have spawners within a set range act as if a player is nearby
  • A new ritual that causes mob spawners to work regardless of nearby players when then spawner is on top of the MRS.

Permafilling an altar is already straightforward (if complex) -- stack Suffering, Regeneration, and optionally Containment, with redstone to keep the Suffering on a 1/4 or so cycle. Fill zone with chickens. Add some Endertanks and you can share the joy.
