Ritual of Magnetism is great, gets all sorts of ores from the ground.

But it would be nice, if there was a way to allow it to pull non-ores from the ground for normal building purposes. ie, Basalt, Marble, stuff you want to build your base with but don't want to have to scour the caves to find enough to build anything large.

Perhaps something like placing a block of the material you want to pull up next to the "upgrade block" already placed (the diamond block for range)
