I was converting the carpet in a newly claimed woodland mansion, and when I started on the second floor landing after putting the red carpet back down I noted that the railing (fence's) was connecting to the carpet as though it were a full block it did this with both chiseled version's but not the vanilla one and braking and replacing the fence blocks fixed this.

One edit, I meant to say replacing the fences did NOT fix the problem.
