Churro's Scythes

This is mostly a little personal project of mine, but i decided to share it here anyway :)

The mod is also unfinished, and is definitely going to change as i balance everything and add new scythes!

This is a mod that adds scythes. Stone, Iron, Diamond etc, but also a few other unique ones that all bring different combat options to the table!

So let's get into each of the different scythes, and how to utilize them!

I recommend using mods such as Just Enough Items for crafting recipes, and Nature's Compass to locate Dead Forests

First of all, you're going to want to find a dead forest. The dead forests are grey patches of little to no life, desaturated and barren.

Once you're there, you may be lucky enough to encounter a crypt. Enter the crypt, and you'll be transported to somewhere very unwelcoming, purgatory.
Purgatory is very difficult to navigate, consisting of giant, towering spires and built from a pitch black material, making it nigh-impossible to see what is below you.

Once in purgatory, there are two ways to exit. Either death, or locating a void pillar.

Void pillars are the only thing in purgatory that isn't a large spike, but can still be difficult to find, but once you've found one, all you need to do is build up and locate the chest, granting you a Reaper's Scythe.

Upon taking the scythe, you will be promptly kicked out, and find yourself back in the overworld, along with your very own soul reaper.

Souls are the source of the scythes' power, and can only be collected with a Reaper's Scythe.

So what can these weapons do?

Stone (Lithic) -

  • Create a shockwave that travels forwards, knocking mobs into the air and immobilizing them for a short duration
  • This can only be done while the player is on the ground

    Gold (Gilded) -
  • Produce a flash of traveling light that can deal damage and heal the player
  • Damage is dealt for a quarter of the user's current health
  • The user is healed to the same percentage of the victim's current health of their maximum health
  • The user is also knocked backwards

    Iron (Ferrous) -
  • Summon a vortex of smoke that will 'mark' any mobs it passes through
  • Marked mobs will glow, and take a quarter of their current health with a maximum of 20 damage

    Diamond (Prismatic) -
  • Fire a laser originating from above the player, and ending at the player's Y level
  • Damage is stronger at the end point of the laser

    Netherite (Ardent) -
  • Conjure a wave of fire that ignites any mob caught in the inferno

    Copper (Clockwork) -
  • Switch between a scythe and a powerful ranged weapon
  • Crouching switches modes
  • The ranged weapon uses Musket Balls instead of Souls

    Ice (Boreal) -
  • Rapidly freeze the ground, creating a glacier that affects a wide area
  • Any mobs in the area will gain a 'Frozen' effect
  • Frozen mobs will move slower, and "shatter" when hit
  • Shattering mobs will deal a large portion of damage, as well as remove the Frozen effect
  • This can only be done while the player is on the ground

    Prismarine (Torrential) -
  • Spin up a powerful current that carries mobs
  • Mobs will be pushed up to 20 blocks
  • Mobs caught in the current will be dealt repeated damage
  • Damage is increased if raining

    Blackstone (Cataclysmic) -
  • Bring down a destructive meteor that deals high damage and knockback in an area
  • Both the player and target block must have a clear view of the sky

    Living (Corporeal) -
  • Use the your own health to cast powerful 'blood blades', and sap the life of your opponents
  • Cast out your own blood, dealing damage equal to your current health, as well as dealing a quarter of your maximum health to yourself
  • Heal by gaining hits on mobs repeatedly
  • Use the ability while crouched to repair the fragile scythe, at the cost of two hearts

The Corporeal Scythe is a little more complicated to craft, as it requires materials only accessible after obtaining a Reaper's Scythe
Finding the reaper's will cause some mobs to start spawning with scythes in their hands. These mobs will drop Cursed Flesh or Cursed Bones, depending on the mob, which can be used to craft the Corporeal Scythe

I should also mention, holding two different scythes at the same time will combine their abilities into one, which is sometimes pretty cool i guess :)
