Cooking Chef Mod is build using Forge, it is available now for Minecraft versions: 1.12.2, 1.15.2, 1.16.3, 1.16.5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm working now on mod update, here is a description of what will be changed:
- added sweet donats with different tastes
- added cactus ice-cream (yeah, why not :-)
- added bun (to use it in sandwich recipes instead of vanilla bread)
- added pasta and different variants of pasta with meet
- added apple cider (no alcohol! just tasty juice :-)
- a bit more... )
Next week should be ready!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.16.3 and 1.16.5 update is ready ))) You wil find new food items based on vanilla items like kelp, honey, berries. Also:
- Added some new recipes to existing items to make crafting more easy (like, now you can craft watermelon icecream using simple icecream and piece of watermelon, etc.);
- Added potion effects to some food but that effects had a chance of appearing :-) for example, coffee will give you Haste II effect for 30c but with a chance of 40%;
- Most of items are redrawed and look more nice now;
- Fixed that pesky bug with raw porkBBQ.
Hello everyone! Here is my mod Cooking Chef that brings decent amount of easy, nice looking food. There are different mods about food for Minecraft, take a glance on this description - maybe it's exactly what you would like to add into your game:
- This mod uses only vanilla ingredients, you don't need to grow new crops, berries, trees or to mine new ores.
- I tried to make all recipes close to reality (if possible, of course). For example, I don't use wheat to create baked cookies or bread - a dough have to be used in such recipes. If you craft something that have to be cooked in real life (like pizza, soup, cake, etc) - you will alway get at first raw version of it while crafting, just put raw food into a furnace to get cooked one.
- Most of recipes are "one step" in crafting, maximum complicated recipes consist of 3 steps (for example, cheesecakes - you have to craft flour, that dough and after that - a cheesecake). In my mod you won't be annoyed by too much cooking :-)
- All recipes are visible in JEI or NEI - you don't need to remember them.
- There are over 60 ready-to-eat variants of meals in this mod now, this can help you a lot if you play with mods that force player to eat different kinds of food (like Spice of Life or Hunger Overhaul).
- This mod doesn't add new mechanisms or utensil - only a workbench is needed to create all the food (any crafting grids from mods will also work) and any furnace to bake raw food.
Cooking Chef doesn't require any additional mods or libraries, just download .jar file and put it into your mod folder.
The main advantage of this mod is that it is really simple. You can stop reading right here and start playing Minecraft using Cooking Chef - and you will definitely succeed.
All items in my mod can be assigned to one of three groups:
- additional items that are not food at all (Paper Cup and Foil Bowl)
- raw food (all meals that are created raw and must be cooked before eating)
- cooked food (or just ready meals that are crafted with no need to be baked - like sandwiches, ragout, ice cream, etc.)
Some ready-to-eat meals give the player nice potion effects (read the spoiler for more information).
!!! For 1.15.2+ mc versions only: Pay attention on cooking time in my mod - it is increased by 2 times for most of mod items (so, 1 coal piece will cook 4 mod items instead of standard 8). Cheese takes the whole coal piece to be baked from Milk Jug (cooking time for cheese is increased by 8 times!).
Every food item has a tip "Hold LShift for info". Press left shift button to get full information about selected food:
In details about food tips and food effects:
It's a really bad idea to eat raw food :-) All raw food items compensate 0, 1/2 or in some cases 1 hunger 'drumstick' and give the player the effects of Nausea or Hunger with a 50% chance:
But some of cooked or ready food items may grant you a bonus (this works now only in 1.15.2+ mc versions):
Several amount of mod food items grants player potion effects, like regeneration, fire resist, night vision and some others. Every food with special effect has not big chance of applying that effect to the player, so it's not an alternative for potions. Potion effects, duration, and usage chances may be slightly changed later in future updates.
Let's start from some additional items that are not food by themselves but you may need them in some crafts:
- Paper Cup, it is used in making juices;
- Foil Bowl, it is used in making soups, some meat dishes, omelette, ice cream;
There are also some items that are crafted as food, but technically are not:
- Flour, it is used in making food items like bread, cookies, cheesecakes, pizza;
- Oil, it is used in making food items like meat dishes, cookies, pizza;
* Oil is very special item in this mod. If you eat it your hunger will be increases by 1 'drumstick' per iteration, and you can eat oil even if you are not hungry. So, you may use this item if you need to test some food (from any mod, of course) or hunger effects.
There are 2 more items that are assigned as food and are used in recipes:
- Milk Jug, it is used in different recipes (yes, you don't need tons of vanilla buckets :-) but you may use vanilla water or milk buckets in the recipes as well);
- Water Jug, it is used in making Dough and all soups;
Dough is important item in this mod - it is used in making pizza, vanilla bread and cookies. I hope, you do like pizza, right? :-)))
Let's take a quick tour of the different types of food that are now added to the Cooking Chef mod:
6 variants of sandwiches (based on 5 kinds of meat + fish)
6 variants of barbecue (based on 5 kinds of meat + vegetable BBQ)
3 variants of meat dishes (based on beef, chicken and pork)

4 variants of ice cream (with apple, watermelon, chocolate or just without extra ingredients)
4 variants of cheesecakes (with apple, watermelon, pumpkin or chocolate)
...and other meals :-) I'll add here descriptions later (sorry!), here is a list without pictures:

- 4 variants of tea
- Chocolate and Milk Shakes

- Cheese
- Omelette
- Sweet Apples
- Chocolate
- 4 variants of cookies
Cooking Chef mod have to be compatible with all mods including other food mods, but if you will get an issue - please, write me about that in comments and I'll try to do what I can.
My mod can be used with well known mod (that I personally like a lot and always add it into my game) - Cooking for Blockheads. Here is an answer for the question - why did I create Flour, Dough and Water Jug as food items - this allows players to create all these items in Cooking for Blockheads crafting table, so cooking process becomes much easier :-)
You can see food/hunger on the HUD if you play using mods like AppleSkin (AppleCore for some mc versions)- another very useful mod that I like and use in my game very often.
Sure, you're allowed to use my mod in your modpacks :-) just give me credit somewhere - if possible.
Cooking Chef mod has not been added on any other sites yet. You may post my mod on your site but only if the download links would go back to CurseForge! CurseForge is the only website where I upload .jar files.
- Port Cooking Chef to some other Minecraft versions;
- Add new food items (1.15.2+ versions in priority) ;
- Add translations to different languages (please, add requests in the comments area);
- Redraw some item textures;
- ...to be continued :-) I'll add here more information a bit later.
If you would like to suggest a new feature or interesting food, feel free to comment your ideas. Any issues should be submitted here on CurseForge (I'll add GitHub issue tracker later).
Idea, design and development are done by me - I'm Alyona :-) *mywitch*. I play Minecraft since 1.5 version and I always used different food mods, maybe just because I love to cook in real life. Since 1.8 I started to create mods for me and my friends but I never published them (they were really different - from simple lanterns and food mods like this to complicated treasure quests)... I hope you will like this one :-)
Also my fat cat Marseille helped me a lot in creating all meat food items in this mod )))
