Formerly MC Rule Of Thirds
I made this mod because I wanted to have a Rule of Thirds overlay in Minecraft. This mod started out as just that, but with the most recent revision from MC Rule Of Thirds to Creator Overlays, I've added a variety of additional overlays, such as a Golden Ratio overlay, and a Vertical Video overlay!
Once installed using this mod is very simple. To toggle each overlay, just follow the instructions below:
The Rule of Thirds overlay is the simplest of them, and is thus the most straight forward to use.
To toggle the overlay on and off, you just have to press F9.
To cycle through the various overlay colors(Black, White, and Red), you just have to press F4.
And that's it!
The Golden Ratio overlay is a little more complex than the Rule of Thirds overlay, but it's still pretty simple to use!
To toggle the overlay on and off, you just have to press F10.
To cycle through the colors, its the same as the Rule of Thirds, just press F4.
To cycle through rotations (that's right, you can rotate this one!), just press [ or ].
The Vertical Video overlay is by far the most complex, but don't worry, it's still easy to use! For those who are wondering what this one does though, it adds an overlay that shows you what part of your screen will fall inside of a vertical video, hence the name Vertical Video. It will always display in the 9x16 aspect ratio at the center of your screen no matter what, and is perfect for making TikToks and YouTube Shorts!
To toggle the overlay on and off, just press F8.
To cycle through the colors, it's the same as before, just press F4.
To toggle the Rule of Thirds inside Vertical Video (That's right, you can turn the Rule of Thirds overlay on and off inside the Vertical Video overlay!), just press F9 while Vertical Video is on.
To toggle the Golden Ratio inside Vertical Video (Yeah, you can do that too!), just press F10 while Vertical Video is on.
To rotate the Golden Ratio inside Vertical Video (Yep, you can even do that!), just press [ or ] while Vertical Video is on.
And that's it for the controls. There are still a few things to note though, like if you have the Rule of Thirds or Golden Ratio overlay on when you press F8 to toggle Vertical Video on, it will automatically display the respective overlay inside Vertical Video. If you have the Rule of Thirds or Golden Ration displaying inside Vertical Video when you press F8 to toggle Vertical Video off, it will automatically display the respective overlay without Vertical Video.
Here's some additional information about this mod:
When using with Replay Mod there is a weird quirk that prevents you from toggling the overlays on and off, and cycling through colors and rotation. This has to do with the way Replay Mod handles rendering the HUD, but this issue is only present when you have the replay recording paused. To get around this, just toggle the overlays, or cycle colors/rotations while the replay recording is being played.
This mod requires Fabric API to run.
The overlays are rendered as a HUD element, and will not show up in F1 or while replay videos are being rendered.
This mod currently only supports Minecraft 1.18+, however I may expand it's compatibility to previous versions if there is enough demand for it.
This mod only supports Fabric mod loader, and I have no intentions of adding support for Forge.
