Enchanter's Books

Enchanter's Books is a lightweight mod that spices up the Enchanting Table and makes it more relevant in end-game.

⚠️ This mod requires Fabric API.

⚠️ This mod can be run on a server with vanilla clients. In this case, clients need the appropriate resource pack (link).

3 Simple Steps

1) Find an Enchanter's Book in a loot chest.

2) Place it in a simple chest just below your Enchanting Table.

3) Enchant something like you normally would.

Enchanter's Books are found in chests all over Minecraft!

Finding an Enchanter's Book

You can find a book in any vanilla loot chest, from dungeons to end cities.

Place a 27-slot container under your Enchanting Table.

Enchanting Table setup

Store the books you want to activate under your Enchanting Table.

It has to be a simple container block: a (simple) Chest, a Shulker Box or a Barrel.

Books are processed from top-left to bottom-right

How it works

When you enchant something using the Enchanting Table, the mod goes through each Enchanter's Book in your collection and tries to activate it.

  • Each book has a chance to activate written in its tooltip (e.g. 50%).
  • If a book activates, it increases the enchantment's level by 1 (if possible).

This is a vanilla friendly mod, so Enchanter's Books respect the vanilla enchantment rules:

  • They only activate if their enchantment makes sense on that item.
  • They do not increase enchantment levels over their vanilla maximum (e.g. Fortune III).
  • They do not add incompatible enchantments (e.g. Fortune and Silk Touch).

An example of merging two books.

Merging books (Version 1.1+)

Merging allows you to combine the chances of several books into one but removes the chances of triggering both at once (get +2).

It's not a good deal in the early game, but you will eventually get tired of moving your 12 Fortune books around and merging will come in handy!
