I am making a skelital structure for my chiseled armor, as I'm sure so many others have done the same, and I can hide pieces of my character model but the options for the head only have the base layer and hat. I have them both checked but the outer layer of my head skin is still showing. I've done the legs and chest and everything looks good there but I don't have an outer layer on those. I'm going to keep looking to see what I can do. Really don't want to change my skin.
