Add sounds
Add heat ( like touching the casing ) and radiation ( when near or with radioactive material in inventory ) damage.

Special suits and blocks could be used that do not allow radiation to pass, such as lead, etc.

That they explode and there are serious breakages if it overheats or strange things happen.

All of this would make for a better gaming experience, as it gives you more homework on how to maintain a safe area and measures, apart from the embarrassing sounds.
