With the "floating islands" world type being removed in the Caves & Cliffs update (1.18), it is less easy to play in a floating island world type. This mod rectifies that by adding several new skyland world types for different experiences. At the moment there are three different types, however many more will be added in the future.

World Types

Classic

The classic floating island experience. This world type aims to be similar to the original, removed skylands dimension.


Classic (Large)

Contains similar terrain to the classic type, but with the island noise scaled up twice as large.


Cellular

Uses a new cellular/worley noise density function to create large, round floating islands that curve up towards the centre. Some of these cellular islands may be connected. An empty "sky" biome generates

away from these islands to decrease the likelihood of structures generating in the void. 

Biomes

In all three dimensions, biomes are picked from the table of "middle" biomes that generate in the overworld. These are biomes that generate in many areas of the overworld and as such they don't have any unique terrain. This means that biomes with unique terrain (like mountains or swamps) are not present in the world types. Other biomes that do not generate include oceans, rivers, plateaus, windswept hills and cave biomes.

  • Mountain biomes in some world types
