FoxGlow

This mod makes foxes and players glow when they eat Glow Berries. Simple right? This should be in vanilla, anyway you can have it this way now! Now compatible with Forge as well!foxglow

Players could eat a glow berry to be more easily spotted by their friends on a server, without shooting themselves with spectral arrows in the head. Kinda painful right?.

About that, are you in need of a server to play on with friends? Check out bisecthosting below here and use code "LightDev" for 25% off!

For a better experience you should also download ColoredGlowLib. so that all the feature of foxglow can be expressed fully! For example, you could set it so your foxes glow different colors when eating a GlowBerry!

Oh an btw, now ANY food from ANY mod is supported! Check down below to see how you can set a food item to also be a "GlowFood"

Configuration
Gamerules

You can adjust the duration of the glow effect using the gamerule `foxGlowDuration`. It takes one parameter which is the duration in seconds. (Without decimals)

  • /gamerule foxGlowDuration <duration>

For example, 2 seconds would be /gamerule foxGlowDuration 2

You can toggle the effect for players using `doPlayersGlow`. The value `true` will enable the effect, `false` will disable it. It is active by default.

  • /gamerule doPlayersGlow <true/false> /gamerule customColorGlow

For example, to disable the effect /gamerule doPlayersGlow false

You can toggle the custom color for the glowing effect  using `customColorGlow`. The value `true` will enable the custom color (which is predefined and it's a mix between orange and yellowish), `false` will disable it. It is enabled by default.

  • /gamerule customColorGlow <true/false>

For example, to disable the custom color /gamerule customColorGlow false

You can toggle a random custom color for the glowing effect  using `randomColorGlow`. The value `true` will enable the random color (which is selected randomly every time a glowberry is eaten), `false` will disable it. It is disabled by default.

  • /gamerule randomColorGlow <true/false>

For example, to enable the custom color /gamerule randomColorGlow true

For Forge users: If you are using this mod on Forge, things are slightly different since I can't implement gamerules as I would like to now, you will need to use the command
/foxglow config set <gamerule> <value>

You can use /foxglow config get <gamerule> To instead get the current setting of the gamerule.

Adding Glow Foods

To add a new glow food you will need to use the command:

  • /foxglow addGlowFood <item>

To remove a glow food you will need to use the command:

    • /foxglow removeGlowFood <item>
The item argument is a food item namespace, such as "minecraft:golden_apple", and it can also be from another mod like "lightwithin:luxintus_berry". Btw, have you seen that LightWithin mod? Looks pretty cool imo, check it out!
Also, for mod developers: you can use the FoxGlow.addGlowFood(Item item) method from this mod to automaticly add your food items as glow food items! More info on github.

The custimized glow color will only work if ColoredGlowLib is installed on the client!

Setup

Just drop it inside your mods folder alongside [Fabric API]
If you are using the forge loader of course you won't need Fabric API

This mod can be installed only on the server if you wish, you don't necesserly need it on the client. (To make the custom glow colors you will need to install ColoredGlowLib both on the server AND the client. This mod can run on serverside only tho)

Also, i'm not planning of making a Forge version anytime soon. Maybe in the future. Apparently, the future is now.

Support

This really is a simple mod, but still, if you would like to offer me a coffè, you can Buy me a Coffè. Or use the code "LightDev" on BisectHosting

Thanks to JustFoxx,Dqu1J for translations.

For modpack devs: You are permitted to use this mod without directly asking, but please credit me somewhere, it would help! (Also, i'm kind of a curios person so maybe send me a message when you include it into your modpack, i'd like to check it out)
