Looting chests is a great way to get resources early game. You can get food, diamonds, emeralds, iron, weapons, tools and armour all within minutes of starting a world!
However have you ever stopped to think about the chests that you are stealing from when you do this? Poor, defenceless things just being indiscriminately rummaged through with some people even having the gall to stick their junk back in as an exchange. Well now the chests have had enough. Some of the chests have now become hungry and absolutely love taking a bite of any player who dares try steal from them. They also bite when punched, so no more using random chests you encounter as punching bags for your frustration.
Through trial and (painful) error, brave adventurers have discovered that constructing a glove out of leather and wool allows softening the bites so they do not hurt, however such a glove also limits the users reach significantly.
The config file found at saves/worldname/serverconfig/hungrychests-server.toml can be used to configure things such as if to force all structures to have a chance of hungry chests, the chance for a chest in a feature (like a dungeon) to have hungry chests and the damage chance per tick when a player has a hungry chest open.
