Immersive Lighting began as a fork of Chaosyr's Realistic Torches, a popular mod that introduced torches burning out after a period of time, for 1.14.4 and onward. Since then, the mod has evolved into it's own twist on the idea of torches burning out. This mod introduces realism and difficulty to the early game by making torches burn out when exposed to rain or when left for long enough. This should force the player to move towards later game light sources.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE RUNNING A VERSION LOWER THAN 2.0.0, I RECOMMEND YOU UPDATE TO 2.0.0 OR A NEWER VERSION. THIS VERSION ISN'T AS BUGGY, AND SHOULD BE A LITTLE MORE PERFORMANT.
Features
> When crafted, torches begin as unlit. In order for them to shed light, they must be lit with some sort of lighting device, like Flint and Steel.
> Because gating light behind iron felt cruel, a few items have been added to facilitate early game lighting. Tinder, which drops from leaves and grass, will allow players to craft primitive lighting items, such as the Flint and Tinder, and the Bow Drill. However, these lighting items ARE primitive, and therefore may take more than one strike in order to light the torch.
> Once lit, torches shed light based on their age. On a random tick, torches have a chance to lose one unit of age, therefor shedding less light as their life diminishes.
> If exposed to rain, or their life diminishes to zero, the torch will be extinguished and have to be re-lit to shed any sort of light again.
> If configured, this mod's torches can be spawned in the world in place of normal torches, and you can choose whether they begin lit or not.
This mod is also very configurable. It has configuration options for:
> The durability of the Flint and Tinder and Bow Drill items
>How many strikes maximum it would take for a primitive lighting item to light a torch
>The chance, on a random tick, for a torch to shed one less light level
> Whether relighting already lit torches is allowed or not. This only occurs on torches that haven't been just lit to prevent unintentional damage to lighting items
> Whether world generation generates this mod's torches or not, and whether they start lit or not
Configs can be found in the config folder of your minecraft instance.
