All glass and glass panes contained by default. It would be interesting to have an ice mirror in an ice-themed base, or have barriers able to be turned into mirrors if a fully seamless appearance is required.

Currently ImmPtl does special handing to glass panes in mirror creation. I am planning to make it more generic and adapt to different block shapes.

if a fully seamless mirror is required and you have access to barriers, then you can just run /portal set_portal_nbt {unbreakable:1b} and replace the block behind the mirror with anything

Example: some blocks from tinkers' construct cannot be mirrored (even though their panes can), which could be solved by this tag:
