Iron-Bamboo is a mod that aims to add an alternative of sorts to the mining meta. It adds a new type of plant, Iron-Bamboo, that grows sparsely in Taiga biomes. The bamboo works (at least a little bit) like the bamboo that is found in jungles.
However, this bamboo grows at a much slower rate. Once the bamboo is obtained, it can only be smelted in a blast furnace to obtain an Iron-bamboo nugget. This nugget then can be combined into a 3x3 recipe that results in an iron-bamboo shard. The iron-bamboo shard can then be combined to create an iron-bamboo clump. One all of that is done, the clump can be placed into a blast furnace to make the iron-bamboo ingot. The ingots are like all of the other workable ingots (except copper) and can be made into tools. These tools include sword, axe, pickaxe, hoe, and shovel. Each of these tools have a slightly higher efficiency and a decently higher durability than diamond tools, but cannot be enchanted.
