Hello there, I was just wondering what the spawn conditions are for moderately sized chunguses. I am building a large platform in the air ABOVE a forest and no chunguses have spawned yet. Do they only spawn at ground level? Also, can they spawn near torches?

In the newest updates they can spawn anywhere in the overworld as long as you have placed down a Chungus Monolith, they will spawn in a radius of 32 blocks from those. They cannot spawn in light/near torches and having multiple monoliths does nothing to increase the spawnrate.
